Agreement with the Madrid city council to support innovation and entrepreneurship

The Madrid city council and Atlético de Madrid have signed a deal that lays out a set of common objectives related to driving innovation in the city.

As such, the Club will gain access to the council’s innovation ecosystem, at the centre of which are the local government’s innovation and entrepreneurship centres.

Atleti Lab, the Club’s dedicated department for innovation, will take the lead in coordinating with the council’s General Directorate for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the body responsible for establishing, developing and executing policies that support innovation and entrepreneurial talent.

The agreement provides for the club’s participation in events, presentations, round tables and open innovation initiatives launched by the council.

Ángel Niño, the Councillor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, outlined that “a key aspect in ensuring the right conditions to favour an innovative spirit in the city is working with all of the members of its ecosystem. This agreement with Atlético de Madrid represents just that. I’m convinced that this is the beginning of a new process in attracting talent to and generating value for the city of Madrid.”

Meanwhile, Atleti Lab director Alejando Ugarrio said that “this agreement is further proof of our commitment to our city, off the pitch as well. Working with them on innovation and entrepreneurship makes us stronger, and the Club wants to increase its efforts with the council in order to keep ‘building the city’ together.”
