Atleti Lab and the City of Sport (Ciudad del Deporte), protagonists of the meeting organised by UEFA’s Innovation Hub in Madrid

The exclusive Tunnel Club of the Riyadh Air Metropolitano hosted a day of work and networking promoted by UEFA in which innovation representatives from UEFA, FIFA, National Federations and several clubs participated.
On December 11, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano became a meeting point for innovation in the world of football. Organised by UEFA’s Innovation Hub, the workshop was attended by representatives from UEFA, FIFA, several European National Associations and clubs. The meeting served to develop workshops aimed at exploring joint challenges and sharing innovative projects underway.
The meeting marked the second of four in-person gatherings for the UEFA Innovation Community 2025-26 season. These sessions bring together leading voices from European football organisations to share best practices and tackle current and relevant challenges collaboratively.
In this sense, Atleti Lab and the City of Sport became protagonists when they were chosen to open the day as examples of innovation projects underway.
Atleti Lab shared the results of several projects such as Movistar Touch or the global competition aimed at sustainability, accessibility and inclusion solutions, Atleti Lab Open Connect. In addition, the club presented the progress in the construction of the City of Sport, a project of the club that will complete the transformation of the environment into a space with more than 265,000 square meters dedicated to leisure, entertainment and sport, making this area of Madrid an innovative, unique, iconic and benchmark area for the city.
The Riyadh Air Metropolitano, a benchmark as a multipurpose space
The day before the event, the participants toured the most iconic spaces of our stadium to see first-hand the capabilities of the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on a technological and experiential level.
A stadium that, since its inauguration in 2017, has established itself as a recurring meeting point for major sporting, musical and corporate events. In fact, it hosted the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, where Liverpool and Tottenham faced each other, and will do so again next season, in 2027.
The visit included talks by top-level executives of our entity in the field of Hospitality and Events, Sponsorships and Technology.
